Environmental Science, Bilingual (ASL-English) approaches to doing & teaching science

I am a Professor & Senior Research Fellow at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax (http://ap.smu.ca/~lcampbel/). My research team has many projects on the go, most of which focuses on two main themes – persistent impact of century-old abandoned historical contaminated gold-mine sites and invasive freshwater species on freshwater ecosystems.  As a Deaf academic, I also have found myself investing time and labour on unplanned (but rewarding) research on dynamic collaborative approaches for inclusion of Deaf and Hearing participants in research, teaching, as well as collaborative ASL-English scientific and academic interpreting.
